mystic suits - a grant propsal

During my junior year spring semester, I felt uncertain about what direction to take with my work. I spent much of the semester exploring possibilities and reflecting on what I truly enjoy drawing which are creatures and environments. The challenge was figuring out how to bring those two passions together. Looking back through past projects from one of my professors, I realized how much I enjoyed creating face cards. That sparked the idea of creating a full card deck. 

Throughout the semester, I focused on sketching on my iPad, then refining and rendering those sketches in Procreate. Once the illustrations were complete, I layered graphic design elements over them to create the final compositions. Eventually, I partnered with a card deck vendor to bring the project to life.

I wanted to create something people could both admire and use. Much of my artistic influence comes from video games and concept art books. I love building environments and watching others discover the small details I intentionally weave into my work.

Overall, this project became very personal to me. While creating a card deck is a tedious and time consuming. I’ve come to appreciate the process and the joy of seeing it all come together.
